Dating approximately to the 19th century, Vajrabhairava is one of twelve surviving Tibetan divination cards.
Vajrabhairava is one of the great wrathful deities of Tibetan Buddhism, depicted in his terrifying buffalo-headed form surrounded by flames. His fearsome appearance is deliberate: this is spiritual power represented in its most uncompromising form.
Also known as Yamantaka, the “Destroyer of Death”, Vajrabhairava is a wrathful manifestation of Manjushri, the bodhisattva associated with wisdom. The symbolism is wonderfully paradoxical. Wisdom itself assumes a monstrous form capable of confronting and overcoming death, ignorance and the obstacles standing in the way of enlightenment.
It makes Vajrabhairava one of the most extraordinary images in the Threads of Fortune collection: ferocious at first glance, but beneath the horns, flames and terrifying expression lies an embodiment of wisdom.

We print using archival pigment inks for exceptional colour, tonal depth and detail. Together, the paper and pigment inks create a print designed to resist fading and retain its character for generations when properly cared for.

International delivery
We ship worldwide. Delivery times vary depending on destination and will be shown at checkout.
Each print is carefully packaged to protect it in transit. We want you to be completely happy with your print. If your order arrives damaged or there is a problem with your purchase, please contact us and we will put it right. If you change your mind, prints may be returned in their original condition within 14 days of receipt. Please contact us before returning an item. Custom-sized prints are produced to order and cannot be returned unless damaged or faulty.
